What is Common Ground?

Common Ground frees your council's Rates and GIS staff from time-consuming 'M1 maintenance'.

Common Ground provides the missing link between your council's rating system and Vicmap Property, enabling you to quickly and accurately update, correct and track changes to its property map base, without the need for specialised staff.

How Does Common Ground Work?

With Common Ground's intuitive graphical interface, every edit you ever need to make to your property map base is only a few mouse-clicks away.

Common Ground presents you with plain-English options to choose from, then fills in all the necessary ID numbers, addresses, coordinates and edit codes for you.

Common Ground:

  • fills in all the necessary M1 attributes – you don't need to type or copy and paste PFIs, address attributes or coordinates
  • automatically assigns the correct edit code
  • internally handles complex relationships such as multi-assessments, multi-parcel properties, multi-lot parcels, multiple addresses and proposed properties
  • automatically verifies all edits, greatly reducing the risk of rejections
  • checks the map base for retired and invalid property numbers, address discrepancies, non-contiguous properties and other anomalies
  • displays your pending edits as a map layer in your GIS, allowing you to easily track the progress of all property updates
  • allows multiple simultaneous users to contribute edits
